As e-Learning Leader, how do I assist teachers to use devices for higher level student learning?

What did I do?

School Wide

• Walk through observations of hub
• Staff meetings with an emphasis on SAMR
• Purposefully model good practice with IT
• Utilise my e-learning release time
• Identified areas for improvement (through goal setting)

With individuals

• Survey teachers from each hub
• Meet with Koru and Te Rito hub to talk through possible high level tasks
• Planned and taught with Te Rito hub
• Was supposed to have an element of reflection to these activities afterwards, but forgot to.

Why did I do this?

Wanted to make deep change, not just surface with app/devices.
Ensure change of practice and developing teacher capability

Lots of questions

Hard to focus on the leadership aspect

High Level tech

• saMR

New innovations

• Teach how to use a tool effectively rather than just how to use
• Tech doesn't teach specific skills
• Move away from 'chocolate covered brocolli'

Transformational

• Sets clear goals

Findings

School wide

• High teacher willingness and capability
• More awareness and understanding of High Level IT use
• More examples have been observed compared to beginning of the year
• Collaboration of ideas (T4 meeting) and general interest

Felt bad taking up people time - want to make it easy for people and not too much extra.
