My life before PZC

  • I felt overwhelmed by the amount of material I had to teach.
  • I felt terrible by the amount of grading I had to do.
  • I worried that my students were not going deep enough in their learning.
  • I knew reflection was important, but how was I going to give my students time to think when I had so much to cover!!

I found Project Zero :)

Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

  • Why can’t my students seem to remember anything from the previous unit once we move on to the next one?
  • How can I help my students see that their grades aren’t arbitrary?
  • How can I convince my students that what we are studying is important?
  • What are my students really getting out of my class?
  • Retrieved from Tina Blythe (2016)

Project Zero is a framework to help you examine and shape your own classroom practice according to your goals, your particular teaching style, and your students’ particular approaches to learning.

What have you seen that you already knew?
What ideas did get EXTENDED?
What is still CHALLENGING for you?

My life after PZC

  • Last year for the first time in 20 years, I was able to cover everything I wanted, and I still had two weeks to review.
  • My students knew what they were doing and why.
  • For the first time in my life, I looked forward to grading their essays.
  • We understood the power of WE.
  • We are happier!

My Journey:
From CONTENT
to TASK
to:
What am I learning?
Why am I learning this?
How am I learning this?
How can I show that I understand it?
How did this change me?
