Teaching in the 21st Century is aimed at using technology which benefit students throughout their educational career and beyond into the workforce.

With technology use, educators hope to create a learning environment in which students are able to utilize creativity, critical thinking skills, communicate effectively, and learn to collaborate on projects or activities.

Creativity encompasses various methods and tools to complete tasks as well as showcase their work with:

Blogging

Mind Maps/Brainstorming with software

Video and audio software/tools

Digital Storytelling

Infographics

Educational Games

Comic/Cartoon strips

Critical thinking

students use technology to critically think 
Students are able to use technology to critically think by using online tools or software that allow students to journal or discuss activities,assignments or document a process. Ways to do this are with:

Activities to reflect and track their learning with discussion blogs or journals

Use of digital storytelling to narrate a personal narrative, document an event, or creating a story that will instruct or inform





communication

students use technology to communicate effectively 
Being able to communicate effectively not only within the classroom, but in the real world, plays an important part in the learning experience. Students are able to use technology that allows students to experience and practice language as well as other skills through various modes of communication. They are able to do this with:

Video chats such as Skype

Twitter/Facebook and other social media sites

Collaborating ideas makes learning fun, engaging and increases understanding while working together as a team. It also aids in bringing awareness to students own learning in where their weaknesses and strengths lie. Students are able to collaborate on assignments with:

Use of online tools or specific sites where students can communicate about specific activities such as collaborative writing sites/spaces online as Figment
