5 Key Area Concern

There are 5 key area of concerns that was gathered from the STaR Chart data from 2011-2013.

1. Technology Professional Development

According the the STaR chart results the our teachers received a minimum amount of technology professional development ranging between 9 and 18 hours. So the needs assessment survey questions were geared towards the availability, location, and instructor preferences for future professional development sessions.

2. Technology Instructional Support

Data showed that the average teacher felt that there was not much instructional support from technology leaders or teachers in campus. It was important to get specific ideas of what instructional support looks like to the teachers in order to assist them with technology integration.

3. Technology Integration

Our campus ranked lower in using technology as a collaborative tool and the activities being student centered. The needs assessment survey questions focused on type of devices being used in the classroom and input on necessary software or device training that would be beneficial.

4. Technology Application TEKS

The data from several of the categories referring to the Technology Application TEKS revealed that the average teacher on campus is not knowledgable of the Technology Application TEKS and if the students are mastering those standards. The assessment survey will indicate just how much of the standards the teachers are aware of, such as the where they are located and how to implement the TEKS.

5. State Board of Education Certification Standards

(SBEC Standards)
The same holds true for the SBEC standards. The average teacher indicated that there were meeting only 2 or 3 of the state standards.
The assessment survey will also indicate just how much of the state standards the teachers are aware of, such as the where they are located and how to meet those standards.

Once the results of the survey are received and analyzed, data will be used to make teachers more experienced at integrating technology in their classroom and knowledgable of the state technology TEKS and standards they have mastered.
