  • He was married to Mabel Gardiner Hubbard (1877–1922)
  • He had four kids; Robert Bell, Marian Hubbard Bell, Edward Bell, Elsie Bell

  • He went to a college in London(1868-1870)
  • He described himself simply as a teacher of the deaf
  • Being a teacher of the deaf was very important to him
  • refused to have a telephone in his study, feared it would distract him from his scientific work.

  • His name for the first telephone was "electrical speech machine"
  • The first words spoken on a telephone was by Alexander on March 10, 1876 to his assistant Tomas Watson
