Important Events
-1826 American Temperance Society was founded
--1846 Maine became the 1st state to become a "dry" state
-1869 Prohibition Party formed
-1874 Women's Christian Temperance Union is founded
-1920 18th amendment was 'put to play'. It banned manufacturing, selling, importing, and exporting alcohol products

Goals of the Movement
-Abolish alcohol usage (or at least make it in moderation)
-Educate the public about the dangers of alcoholic beverages

Impact:
-Illegal alcohol traffickers became common
-corruption was nearly impossible
This shows that the impact was pretty bad, but it had benefits as well.
