TEMPORAL LOBE OF THE BRAIN

WHERE IS IT LOCATED

  • Directionally, the temporal lobes are anterior
  • To the occipital lobes, inferior to the frontal lobes and parietal
  • Lobes, and lateral to the fissure of sylvius, also know the lateral
  • Sulcus.

WHAT IT DOES

  • Auditory perception
  • Memory
  • Speech
  • Emotional responses
  • Visual perception

LEFT SIDE DAMAGE

  • Left Side lesions result in decreased
  • Recall of verbal and visual content, including
  • Speech perception.
  • Difficulty recognizing words

RIGHT SIDE DAMAGE

  • Right side lesions result in decreased recognition
  • Of tonal sequence and many musical abilities.
  • Lack of inhibition when talking

SYMPTOMS OF DAMAGE

  • Impaired long-term memory.
  • Changes in sexual behavior
  • Language comprehension problems
  • Visual perception disorders

TEMPORAL LOBE SEIZURE

  • Having feelings of
  • Euphoria
  • Fear
  • Panic and
  • Deja vu

CONTINUED

  • Temporal lobe seizures may stem from
  • An anatomical defect or scar.
  • Most people say the cause is unknown
  • It can also resist from anti seizure
  • Medications
