Ten Tenets Of Leadership, #10

Published on Nov 22, 2015

Tech Executive Larry Pendergrass offers a strategy that can be applied at all levels of the organization – but it requires the courage to implement.

Larry offers the strategy of assuring your long term career path by putting the growth and well being of the organization ahead of your own interests. The strategy of developing other people’s skills and knowledge – taking cognitive work and turning it into algorithmic work that can be executed by others.

Drawing on a long career in a variety of tech industry assignments and levels of contribution, Larry talks about how was able to use this strategy at both individual contributor or management levels. Empowering and developing others allows a number of people to solve problems in a distributed way, setting strategy, executing and performing.

Larry recommends Effective Succession Planning as a reference.
