Aftermath:
-Olympics were to create peace among countries
-Yet there was still a terrorist attack that increased tension between Israelis and Palestinians

Iranian Embassy Siege

30 April to 5 May 1980

Members of the Democratic Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Arabistan (DRFLA)—Iranian Arabs protesting for the establishment of an autonomous Arab state

Victims:
Two hostages killed—one before, one during the assault; two hostages wounded during assault; one SAS soldier wounded

Aftermath:
-SAS involvement brought it into limelight
-Iranian Embassy burnt and damaged

Air France Flight 139

US Embassy Bombing – Beirut

April 18, 1983

Victims:
63 deaths and 120 non-fatal injuries

Aftermath:
-Marks the beginning of anti-U.S. attacks by Islamist groups

Tokyo Sarin Gas Attack

March 20 1995

Aum Shinrikyo, act of domestic terrorism

Victims:
13 deaths, 6252 injured

Aftermath:
The sarin attack was the most serious terrorist attack in Japan's modern history. It caused massive disruption and widespread fear in a society that had previously been perceived as virtually free of crime.

1998 Omagh Bombing

15 AUgust 1998

Bali Bombings

Dubrovka Theater Siege

Mumbai Attacks
