Thailand- Geography

  • Thailand is situated in Southeast Asia.
  • Thailand's neighbors are: Myanmar to the West,
  • Laos, Cambodia to the East and Malaysia to the South.
  • Thailand is 514,000 km2. In comparison, United States is 20 times larger.
  • Thailand's capital is Bangkok. The distance between San Francisco and Bangkok is 7,900km.

  • As of 2012, Thailand's population was 67 million.
  • Thailand is a kingdom and was named Siam before.
  • The flag: red for the land and people,
  • white for Buddhism, and blue for monarchy.

The currency

  • Thailand's currency is baht.
  • One dollar equals 33 bahts.

Bangkok

  • As of 2010, Bangkok had a population of 8,3 million. Only 5,7 million residents.
  • Bang is a Thai word meaning "a village situated on a stream" and ko means "island".
  • They are very famous for their street foods.
  • The world famous market is named Chatuchak Weekend Market.
  • The Chatuchak has 5000-6000 stalls.

Island of Ko Jum

Ko Jum

  • Is an island south of Krabi, in the Andaman Sea.
  • Ko means crab in Thai. There are many blue crabs in this island.
  • This very small island has white sandy beaches, and great snorkeling.
  • All of the residents eat mainly seafood and chicken.
