  • To pilgrims thanksgiving was a day of prayer not feast
  • They thank God of a good harvest season

  • And a time to give up land for gifts
  • They saw it as the beginning of their end

LOCATION OF THANKSGIVING

  • The first thanksgiving dinner was held in the present day Massachusetts
  • And it was in 1621

  • 200 years later after the thanksgiving of the pilgrims Abraham Lincoln declared the final Thursday in November as a national day of thanksgiving
  • In 2001 the U.S post office issued a thanksgiving stamp
  • 3 towns in U.S toke their name from the thanksgiving dinner like Turkey, Texas, and turkey creek
