  • Didnt have silver buckles on their shoes
  • Didn't wear somber black clothing
  • Weren't called Pilgrams
  • Didn't eat:mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, ETC.
  • Didn't use forks, only had spoons, knife, and hands

FACTS

  • Wore bright and cheerful clothes
  • The celebration lasted for 3 days
  • Was by SE Massachusetts E Rhode Island
  • Wampanoags taught the how to cultivate land
  • They ate deer, corn, shrimp, krill, shellfish, Etc.

•Canada celebrate Thanksgiving the 2nd Monday in October
•Average American eats about 16-18 pounds of turkey
•Californians consume the most turkey in the US
•Benjamin Franklin wanted turkey to be the national bird

  • Lincoln declared thanksgiving a national holiday
  • Didn't eat turkey
  • Macy's Thanksgiving Parade tradition started in the 1920's
  • Turkeys purchased usually 15lbs.
  • Heaviest turkey raised was 86lbs

  • Native Americans helped point out poisonous plant to the pilgrams
  • They drank a lot of beer
  • Lemon juice was what the Pilgrims drank so they wouldnt get Scurvy
  • About 20% of all cranberries are consumed at Thanksgiving
  • Only half the people on the Mayflower were called Pilgrams
