THE ADENA

FOOD

  • They are Hunter-Gatherers
  • They grew crops such as-squash, pumpkin & sunflowers
  • They ate a lot of game

GEOGRAPHY

  • They built mounds in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania & New York
  • Built mounds around 700 B.C
  • About 200 sites of mounds

CLOTHES

  • Women wore Head-Dresses & Masks
  • Men wore a Breech cloth
  • Clothes were made out of Animal skin and grass
  • Clothes were woven from bark
  • They made Necklaces out of beads

SHELTER

  • First shelter was the Massive Rock
  • Mounds were about, 14ft high, 20ft across & 1,330 feet long
  • They used earth's sand, mud & thatch

TOOLS

  • The Adena used a lot of Stone Tools
  • They used bone, antlers, flint tools & spear points
  • Some Weapons they used were- copper axes, knifes, hammers & rocks

RELIGION

  • Made pottery and tablets based on their god
  • They would paint on their body to show appreciation
  • The pottery had the god Brady but the face as a animal
