WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE MONOGASTRIC DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

  • Monogastic animals: cats, dogs, hogs, humans, rhinos and more.
  • A Monogastic animal would only have one compartment in the stomach.

The Monogastric digestive process.

They start off by chewing their food, then the animal would swallow their food, and then the food travels down the throat of the animal to the stomach, after food turns to mush and then goes to the small intestine, then the cecum absorbs fluids, but then it goes into the large colon, after that it goes into the small colon and then it goes through a process called hindgut fermentation.
Fermentation is when the helpful bacteria turns the feed into nutrients that they can use!
