THE ANT AND THE GRASSOPPER
One day, in summer, the grasshopper was hopping about and singing happily when an ant passed by. The ant was working very hard and was carrying a piece of corn to his nest.
Then the grasshopper said, “Hey. Why are you working so hard? Why don’t you come with me and play?” The ant replied, “We have to collect food for the winter and I think you should do the same thing.” But the grasshopper wasn’t worried and said, “Come on, why worry about winter? We should enjoy the summer while it’s here!”
And the grasshopper left and continued playing while the ant continued to work. Then, winter came and the grasshopper had no food and was dying. The ants, however, had plenty of food and ate well throughout the winter.
The grasshopper eventually died.
