IN 1861 THE BATTLE OF BULL RUN TOOK PLACE EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.BULL RUN WAS THE FIRST MAJOR BATTLE IN THE CIVIL WAR.
THE FORCES THAT FOUGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER WAS THE UNION ARMY AND THE CONFEDERATE ARMY.
Its significance is that it was the first major battle in the civil war.
The outcome of the battle was a hard fought confederate victory.
Geography played a big role because the union was stepping in to unknown territory.
Both sides had advantages and disadvantages but they were both pretty equal.
