  • Sir Peter Parker's naval forces were repulsed by fire from William Moultrie's men at Fort Sullivan

  • Lt.Colonel Archibald Campbell took city without a fight on December 29, 1778
  • French and American forces under Mj. Gen. Benjamin Lincoln
  • Laid siege to Charleston on September 16, 1779
  • Clinton left 1500 men under Gen. Wilhelm Von Knyphausen in NY to hold Gen. George Washington's army at bay.
  • Sailed south with 14 warships and 90 transports for another attempt on Charleston
