VICKSBURG IS IN THE CONFEDERATE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI ON THE EAST BANK OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

- It gave the union (North) complete control of the Mississippi River
- It split the confederate (south) in two

- Total of 110,000 soldiers went into the battle
- 37,402 soldiers total died in the battle
- 4,910 soldiers died on the union side
- And 32,492 soldiers died on the confederate side
