For more than 2 years French and British forces tried to capture Vimy Ridge but were unsuccessful.
In late 1916 Canadians were chosen to fight in the battle.

Vimy, Pas-de-Calais France near the somme.

The battle started April, 9th 1917
There were many events that happened before the battle started the start of Vimy Ridge was in 1914, when Germans took over the spot.

Canadians planned to attack in less than two hours they had their first objective.
April, 10 Canadians captured Hill 145, which is the highest point of Vimy Ridge.
April 12 Canadians took the last German position "the pimple"
