Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Matthew 5:3

Poor in Spirit doesn’t actually mean you are poor financially. It means you remember that God has all power and is all knowing. Instead of living our lives trying to be the most successful, people who are poor in spirit would give up their lives for the lord.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Mourning is feeling sad with deep sorrow. A good friend will also feel sorrow when their friend is upset. If you are a good person who can put others before themselves and feel sorrow when your closest of friends / family is sad, then you will be and feel comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit land Matthew 5:5

Meek means to be calm, cool, quite, and collected. You shouldn’t care what people say about you. You need to live your life to the fullest and don’t let others bad attitude bring you down.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

When you hunger and thirst for righteousness want something so bad that you will fight for it. People who hunger and thirst for righteousness love God and will cherish their friendship with him. They will teach others about him and show them how Jesus wanted us to live.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy
Matthew 5:7

You have to be able to forgive anyone at anytime. To be a good person you need to welcome people in all kinds. If you are a good person and have a forgiving heart them you will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
Matthew 5:8

Clean of heart means to revolve your life around God. Don’t have non-living things or false gods control your life. People try to live their life getting the most money or be the most popular. If you focus on God and stay clean of heart you will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

If you want to be a peacemaker and spread peace you need to have it first. Just like if you wanted to spread happiness you would need to be happy first. Jesus spread his message and peace all over the world. If we all strived to be like Jesus and spread peace then we will be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10

Persecution is what could happen to people who live the Gospel seriously. There are going to be bad people in this world and you can’t deny that. If you just move on and tell the truth you will be happy in life. When we keep our relationship with a God and face the challenge of being Christian, we will find a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
