Group Formation

• Formed when they were all young teens 
• First met in Liverpool where John had a band
• Paul joined John's band first, brought Harrison along
• Although young Harrison was soon admitted 
• Couple years later, Ringo was added as drummer

• Then signed 1 year contract with Brian Epstein 
• Under Epstein released their first famous single 
• Started to gain popularity in Liverpool and the UK

• For a while Beatles songs not allowed in US
• Then finally allowed to come to US, instantly popular
• Appeared on Ed Sullivan show twice
• Show had the largest crowds ever when the band was on

• Influenced dominance of UK acts 
• Made soloists change to groups, cause groups became popular
• Influenced use of professional writers to self penned songs 
• changed common fashion and lifestyle for young and old people
