The Royal Palace was built on the site of the former Palace of the Dukes of Brabant which was destroyed by fire in 1731.

It is a tradition that the Royal Palace opens its doors to the public every summer.

The visitors have access to certain rooms of the palace, like the Mirror Room with the artwork 'Heaven of Delight'. Which consists of thousands of beetles stuck to the ceiling.
