The Bible. The Cross. The Son of God. The I AM. These are a few of the many biblical headlines we as Christians, rely on. We believe in GOD. Attention to my singular use. Now, how did the faith of believing in MANY gods come to be? Who are these so-called gods from Greece and why should we as Christians understand the origin?
Theogony. The Theogony is a poem by Hesiod and is the genealogy of these gods. It was composed in 700 BC. Theogony is a part of Greek mythology which embodies the desire to articulate reality as a whole
The end of the worship of these gods was in 390 AD. When the Roman Empire conquered the ancient Greek Empire. People stopped worshipping the gods around the time the Roman Empire split in two and collapsed. Christianity then took its place. It lead to the creation of the Holy Roman Empire. The Christian Church became the state religion of the Roman Empire. The Christian Churches took the property of the temples.
The importance of this religion in our Christian worldview is huge! These Greek gods were later evolved into Roman gods and the people of that ancient world later characterized them as our planets in the solar system. Well how did those planets come to existence? It all leads up to believing in a higher superiority that creates and controls all.
