WHAT IS THE BIBLE?

The bible holds the many scriptures that are sacred to Christians and the Jewish.

  • Christians believe in one god or are monotheistic.
  • Salvation is a free gift from God
  • God will create a new heaven and earth.
  • God knows of all things
  • God is the creator of everything that exists

WHAT IS IT'S PURPOSE?

The Creation Story, Genesis, was written to reveal moral and spiritual revelation to mankind and provide them an understanding of God's powers and how he created the everything.

In the Bible, the writer used a simple, narrative form for the scripture. It tells a story about God creating the world bits by bits.

  • Both Rig Veda and the Bible are ideas of how their God/Gods created their universe.
  • They both stated that before the Gods, there was absolutely nothing that was filled with life.

  • Brahman is the one true God that is formless.
  • The Vedas(Rig, Yaju, Atharva, Sama) are sacred.

  • Reincarnation
  • Believe in Moksha; the liberation of the cycle of death.

WHAT IS RIG VEDA'S PURPOSE?

Its purpose is to allow the reader to consider what may have existed before the world was created by their God.

LITERARY DEVICES

used in the Rig Veda

This hymn constantly used RHETORICAL DEVICES to engage the reader in the importance of the passage. It is filled with metaphors and difficult text that may confuse the reader.
