WHAT IS THE BLACK DEATH

  • The Black Death was a Bacteria.
  • It lived in the fleas of Rats.
  • It caused swellings of the lymph nodes,
  • and black spots all over the human body
  • The Event lasted from the 1330's to the 1350's

LIVES EFFECTED

  • The Black Death killed approximately 75 million people.
  • Over one third over the population in Europe died
  • Effected rich and poor.
  • Whole cities and almost whole countries were wiped out
  • People died in 1-7 days

  • Higher pay because of less people.
  • Led to more unified goverment.
  • Got rid of the feudal system.
  • Led to the Hundred Year War
  • It took 150 - 250 years for the population to recover

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE

  • It is still significant today.
  • It is possible for the plague to strike again.
  • It caused a "redo" of the entire European system.
