The blue morpho butterfly lives in tropical rain forests of South and Central America.

The blue morpho butterfly eats many different things, depending on what stage the butterfly is in.

In the caterpillar stage they eat a variety of things. They prefer the pea plant.

The adult morpho cannot chew, so it drinks its food. They like to drink the juice of rotting fruit, fluids of decomposing animals, tree sap and wet mud.

The butterfly plays an important role in the ecosystem, acting as a pollinator, a food source and an indicator of the ecosystem’s well being.

Fun Facts
They are the largest butterfly in the world.
They are the easiest butterfly to spot because of their bright color.
The brown shades continue to the underside of their wings which contains shades of brown, red, black and even some gray.
The males are very blue the females are less or not blue at all.
