The setting creates a mood that is scared, the town is living with Hitler's army all around them looking for Jews.
FORESHADOWING
"He didn't deserve to die like he did."
This foreshadows that Rudy is going to die.
CONFLICT
Person vs society, external conflict. Leisel has to learn to live with Hitler's army in her town. They were burning books and taking Jews.
RISING ACTION
- Liesel's brother dies and she goes to live with foster parents.
- She stole book from a pile of burning books and someone sees her.
- Max, a old friend that is a Jew, comes to hide in their basement.
- A soldier comes to the house to look for Jews.
CLIMAX
The Jew that Liesel had grown very attached to left. They had so much fun together and made lots of memories.
DENOUEMENT/RESOLUTION
- Liesel's papa has to go to war with other men.
- Rosa gave Liesel the note and books Max had left her.
- Bombs came down on the small town and she survived because she was downstairs.
- Liesel had no where to go so the mayor's wife took her.
