Person vs society, external conflict. Leisel has to learn to live with Hitler's army in her town. They were burning books and taking Jews.

  • Liesel's brother dies and she goes to live with foster parents.
  • She stole book from a pile of burning books and someone sees her.

The Jew that Liesel had grown very attached to left. They had so much fun together and made lots of memories.

  • Liesel's papa has to go to war with other men.
  • Rosa gave Liesel the note and books Max had left her.
  • Bombs came down on the small town and she survived because she was downstairs.
  • Liesel had no where to go so the mayor's wife took her.
