The bubonic plague was a horrible illness that was caused by fleas on rats.

It has many effects on people. Almost one-third of the population died, and the people who survived demanded more money.

Because so many people died, there were less surfs to work the land which weakened the feudal system.

This event sheds light on contemporary life because many people now understand it, and know how to cure it.

After the bubonic plague, trade died down for a while. It was until the Renaissance when it started back up again.
