Analogy Between Caliphs and Popes

  • Caliphs were the heads of Islam, which is similar to popes being the heads of Christianity.

The Caliph of Baghdad

  • His family members had an abode in his palace, but are bound by chains and guards to prevent them from rising against him.

THe Caliph of Baghdad

  • The caliph established a hospital for the poor. Patents were treated at the caliph's expense.
  • A building called Dar-al-Maristan was also created as an asylum to heal those who have gone insane.
