CHERNOBYL IS THE WORST NUCLEAR DISASTER IN HISTORY

  • The Disaster happened May, 1984
  • The area around the power plant is abandoned now.
  • The disaster happened in the Soviet Union. (Ukraine today)

The Beginning

  • Before the disaster the communities were normal Soviet communities.
  • When the plant was under construction, materials were replaced.
  • Management decided to run a test.
  • By law they were required to send the test to the government.

AFTER THAT...

  • They government never responded
  • When they ran the test an explosion occurred.
  • They cleaned it up about a month later.

AFTERWARDS...

THE CITIZENS EVACUATED AND THE AREA REMAINS ABANDONED.

CHERNOBYL AFFECTED PEOPLE IN 179 COMMUNITIES.

  • There was 6,000 liquidators.
  • The government claimed 250 died.
  • 116,000 people evacuated.

Most people didn't know what to think the black plume the disaster created was even visible in London.

Birch forests

Now that people abandoned the area birch forests are quickly growing back.
