FACTS
On Christmas Eve, many German and British troops sang Christmas Carols to each other across the lines.
On Christmas Day, the German Soldiers got out of their trenches and went to the Allied lines across No Man’s Land. They called out, “Merry Christmas!
The Allied soldiers feared it was a trick, but seeing the Germans unarmed, they climbed out of their trenches and shook hands with the enemy soldiers.
It was the last effort of getting soldiers together to sing carols for Christmas.
Future attempts at holiday ceasefires were quashed by officers’ threats of disciplinary action.

RATING
I give this event a 4 or a 3.5 out of 5 stars. This is because this event proved that the soldiers didn't quite lose their humanity yet. They still acted like humans.

Present Day Connections
On
History.com
website it said that something like this would never happen in present day.
I think this says a lot about how humanity has changed over the years.
