PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE CHURCH IS THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

BY: MADISON BARNES

THE UNION BETWEEN THE CHURCH AND CHRIST IS LIKE MARRAIGE

  • Christ loves his bride, the Church
  • Christ gave himself up for the Church
  • In giving up himself, Christ made her holy and joins himself with her in an everlasting covenant.

Saint Paul compares Marriage to:
The intimate relationship between Christ and the Church.

The unity between Christ and the Church reveals the intimate relationship that God intends for a husband and wife to have.

THE CHURCH AND CHRIST BECOME ONE FLESH

  • This teaches a deeper meaning of how marriage is supposed to be intimate and loving.
  • This unites a couple in the mystery of 2 becoming 1, like that of the church and Christ.
  • The sacrament of Marriage becomes a sign of the covenant of Christ and the church.
