💡THE CITY OF EMBER 💡

Plot
The City of Ember is an underground city that depends on electricity because it's their only source of light. There are shortages of food and the generator is broken, so it's causing blackouts.

Background info.
The builders of the City of Ember made a box that would last for 220 years. Inside the box was a message with instructions to escape Ember.

Setting
Everything is old in the city of Ember. The sky is always dark. Lights cast a yellow glow. It is always dark and gloomy.

• Lina ( Messenger, and related to one of the former mayors)
• Doon Harrow ( Serious, Inquirer, and pipe worker )
• Poppy ( Lina's younger sister, and finds box with instructions)

• Looper ( works in the storerooms, and smuggles food for the mayor)

Theme
The author wants the reader to be an inquirer, risk taker, thinker, and ask questions.

Favorite part
My favorite part is when Looper discovers that the storerooms marked empty were filled with food. Everything started to make sense, and it pieced the story together.

Recommendation
I recommend this book because it makes you wonder about what's going to happen next and it hooks you into the book. If you like Science Fiction or The Giver you will definitely like The City of Ember.
