HOMESTEAD ACT

  • On January 1, 1863, Daniel Freeman, a Union Army scout, was scheduled to leave Gage County, Nebraska Territory, to report for duty in St. Louis.

MORRILL LAND GRANT

  • For 20 years prior to the first introduction of the bill in 1857, there was a political movement calling for the creation of agriculture colleges.

PACIFIC RAILWAY ACT,

  • The "Pacific Railroad Acts" were a series of acts of Congress that promoted the construction of the transcontinental railroad in the United States through authorizing the issuance of government bonds and the grants of land to railroad companies.

NATIONAL BANKING SYSTEM.

  • The National Banking Acts of 1863 and 1864 were two United States federal banking acts that established a system of national banks for banks, and created the United States National Banking System. They encouraged development of a national currency backed by bank holdings of U.S.
