THE COURT OF DARIUS

ENTRANCE GATE

  • The huge palace had two entrances gates
  • Representatives of concord people waited to bring gifts to the emperor
  • Gifts included many animals like bulls and horses were giving along with precious gems
  • gold, cloth, ivory, grain, and silver

TREASURE ROOM

  • The treasure room was stuffed with huge amounts of silver, gold, lápiz
  • lazuli, carnelian, and turquoise.
  • With the beautiful and rare gems they made fancy jewelry for the king or queen
  • and with some of the gold and silver they made plates, silver ware, and cups.

LADIES' COURT

  • The ladies' court was were upper class woman
  • These upper class woman usually had many servants and weren't expected to do work
  • These woman also stayed inside the ladies' court unless commanded to appear before the emperor

AUDIENCE HALL

  • Darius met with workers of the empire and received ambassadors from many other countries in this particular hall
  • The hall contained 36 columns inside the hall as well as outside the all
  • The walls also showed brightly colored tiles inside with pictures of lion headed humans or royal guards on them

DARIUS

  • Darius was a strong leader and concord more than 2,800 miles of land
  • From Los Angeles to New York is about 2,500 miles so imagine how big his empire grew to be
  • Darius was the first to make use of the royal rode, but for government purposes
  • Darius also step up governors called satraps to collect taxes as well as follow any orders he had for them
