Mickey Mouse was originally a rabbit named Oswald. The animation was too expensive so they needed to come up with a new character.

Believe it or not, Mickey Mouse was NOT created by Walt Disney. While Walt drew Mickey, it was Ub Iwerks that gave him the idea for a mouse character after he lost his other cartoon, Oswald the Rabbit.

Mickey started in black and white, but eventually he transferred to color in 1935.

His first big hit was Steamboat Willie a black and white cartoon.

With Mickey came money and huge amount of fame for Walt.

In no time Mickey mouse became a success and to this day is still being watched by millions of young kids around the world.

Today their are 2 entire places that are based off of Disney and his buddy Mickey. They celebrate the character and the man behind him.
