THESE ARE THE 11

DIVISIBILITY RULES

The Rule for 2
A number is divisible by 2 is the last digit in the number is even.
Examples
Yes: 576
No: 687

The Rule for 3
When you add all of the digits in the number and it is divisible by 3
Yes: 7437, 7+4+3+7=21➗3=7
No: 5476, 5+4+7+6=22 cannot be divisible by 3.

The Rule for 4
It will be divisible by 4, if the last 2 digits in the number are abel to go into 4.
Example
Yes: 2916, 16➗4=4
No:1755, 55 cannot be divided by 4

The Rule for 5
Only when the last digest in the number is 0 or 5 will it be divisible by 5.
Examples
Yes:180
No: 187

The Rule for 6
For it to be able to be divisible by 6 the number has to be divisible by both 3 and 2 first
Examples
Yes: 7734 is even and 7+7+3+4=21➗3=7
No: 73 is not even and its sum cannot be divided by 3

The Rule for 7
First you have to double the last digit in the number, after that, subtract it from the other numbers, if it's 0 or divisible by 7, it works!
Example
Yes:189, 9 double is 18, 18-18=0
No: 173 3 double is 6, 17-6=11 which is not divisible by 7

The Rule for 8
Only the last 3 digits in that number have to be divisible by 8.
Examples
Yes:1216 216➗8=27
No: 1895 895 cannot be divided by 8

The Rule for 9
It applies for the rule of nine when all the digest add up and the answer can be divided by nine.
Examples
Yes: 72954, 7+2+9+5+4= 27➗9=3
No: 8572, 8+5+7+2=23 cannot be divisible by 9

The Rule for 10
The digest has to end in 0 for it to be divisible by ten .
Examples
Yes: 57650
No: 64738

The Rule for 11
You add up every second number and then subtract the rest of them, if you get 0 or its divisible by 11, it works for the rule of 11.
Examples
Yes: 5643, (5+4)-(6+3)=0
No: 6578 (6+7)-(6+3) dose not equal 0 or divisible by 11

The Rule for 12
The number both allies for butch the 3 and 4 divisibility rules.
Examples
Yes: 516 5+1+6=12➗3=4 and 16➗4=4
No: 625 6+2+5=13 which is not divisible by 3 and 25 is not divisible by 4

How will this help?
Knowing these rules help you divide and that is very important in the mathematical world. These rules break down and proses division problems. The divisibility rules help you understand the process of division. Say if had 116 cookies and 4 friends, use the rule for 4. If the last 2 digits go into 4 it's divisible by 4. 16 goes into 4 4 times. Dividing has never been easier.

How to use the rules to simplify a fraction.
A math problem say simplify 25/100. What goes into 25 and 100 evenly. Look at the rules and see the rule for 5 shows if the number ends in a 5 or 0. That means 5 can go into both 25 and 100. 25➗5=5 and 100➗5=20, 5/20. Then do it again, 5➗5=1 20➗5=4
1/4 is your simplified answer!

EXTRA TIPS

  • It is only divisible by a number if it comes out whole
  • Digit is another word for number
