  • The Dominican has a warm climate the temp. gets as high as 104° Fahrenheit.

COMIDAS TIPICAS

  • Sancocho which is a dish with rice, avocados, chicken, beef, and pork.
  • Kipé a crispy fried ball filled with meat of any kind on the inside.
  • Mangu which is boiled and mashed plantain.
  • Tostones which is a dish of fried plantains.

COSTUMBRES AND CELEBRACIONES

  • Epiphany on 6 de enero celebrates the three wise men that brought gifts to Jesus.
  • Dominican Independence Day is on 27 de febrero, they gained independence from Haiti.
  • Dominican Constitution Day is 4 de noviembre, the day the Dominican constitution became the constitution.

  • Santo Domingo was founded in 1496 making it the oldest permanent settlement in the Western Hemisphere.
  • The Dominican Republic is in the top ten producers of cocoa in the world produce around 47 thousand tons a year.

  • Windsurfing is a popular sport in the Dominican all year long, you can take classes on wind surfing
  • Horseback ridding on creole horses is also a sport for all people where you can take a ride on the beach.
  • You could get a mountain bike from one of the lots of travel agents and go riding in mountains or near beaches.
