LOUISIANA PURCHASE
The United States bought the Louisiana purchase.
The Louisiana purchase was bought by Thomas Jefferson.
The United States bought the Louisiana purchase for 15 million dollars.
The Louisiana purchase was double the size of the United States.

LEWIS AND CLARK
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark went on an expedition to look at the Louisiana purchase.
Their guide was Sacajawea, she was a Shoshone woman who joined to help guide them.
They came back with valuable information on people, plants, animals, and geography.
This was probably the most important expedition.

THE SECOND GREAT AWAKENING
The second Great awakening was the rise of religion in the 1800's .
Cullan Bryant of Massachusetts, wrote poetry.
One of the most successful American songwriters was Stephan C. Foster.
George Bingham, painted fur traders, riverboat workers, and political speakers.

PLANTATION CULTURE
Southern plantation culture involved northerners living close together.
Southerners mostly living in non small farms or large plantations.
Planters or large landowners, became the souths economic and social leaders.

SLAVERY LIFE
Most enslaved people in the south worked on farms and plantations.
They labored together from dawn to dusk and were closely supervised.
Enslaved men usually worked in the fields.
Enslaved woman usually cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and sewed.
7.
LIFE IN THE NORTHERN CITIES
Life in northern cities included the huge rise In industries.
This lead to the gap between richer and poorer people.
8.
LIFE IN THE WEST
Life in the west would include living on the frontier was rigorous.
Pioneers had to deal with uncertain climate, limited supplies, and failing crops.
Dispute hardships, they still enjoyed things and had things like weddings.
There were few roads and the westerners found it hard to transport crops.
