BIOGRAPHY

  • Born in London, England in 1759
  • She was in the middle class and was the second of seven children
  • Her first job was a paid companion to Mrs. Sarah Dawson in Bath city
  • Her most famous work was "A Vindication of the Rights of Women

PHILOSOPHICAL IDEAS

  • Wrote the a Vindication of the Rights of Women
  • She envisioned a future when women could pursue virtually any career
  • She was strongly voicing more rights for women
  • She also fought for girls education
  • Wollstonecraft felt that they could men and women could be equal in social society

Political Veiws

  • Mary Wollstonecraft was against the monarchical form of government.
  • Mary helped reform France's government after the French Revolution.
  • She also called for the reform of England's government as well.
  • She supported John Locke's views on human right to life, liberty, etc.
  • Her views at the time on Democracy were controversial
