Abraham Family Timeline

The Covenant
God promised Abraham many thing with their covenant. He would have as many descendants as the stars in the sky. he would also be the king of Canaan, he would also have a son named Isaac. But to be the king of Canaan, he would have to travel the there.
The Patriarch
When Abraham arrived in Canaan, he became the first Patriarch. The Canaanites followed a practice that they sacrifice their first born for God. A Patriarch is the person who leads the chosen people.
Isaac
After Abraham died Isaac got the blessing. Then soon after he married Rebekah, then had 2 sons, Jacob and Esau.
Jacob's Blessing
Israel had 2 sons, Jacob and Esau. Usually the first born (Esau) would get the blessing. But Jacob tricked Esau into giving him the birthright, for some stew. Israel was blind so when Jacob went to him for the birthright he had to wear some of Esau's clothes so that his Dad wouldn't know it was him.
Esau's Anger
When Rebekah found out that Esau was going to kill Jacob, she sent him away to live in Haran with her brother Laban.
Jacob's Journey
On the way there one night Jacob fell asleep on a mountain. He had a dream where angels were going up and down a staircase, and the Lord appeared next to Jacob and renewed his promises he made to Abraham. The staircase is usually referred to as Jacob's ladder.
More Tricks
When Jacob went to stay with Laban, he fell in love with Laban's youngest daughter Rachel. He worked for 7 years to marry her. When it came to wedding day, Laban put his older daughter (Leah) under the veils, and after that Jacob had to work for 7 more years to marry Rachel.
Jacob Wrestles With God
One night when traveling, a stranger wrestled him until dawn. Then the man asked Jacob to let him go, and Jacob let him go. And when the man saw that Jacob had let him go he changed his name to Israel.
Israel's 12 Sons
Joesph was Israel's favorite son. His other 11 sons didn't like that so one day they threw him in a well and dipped his coat in blood and said he was killed by a wild animal. Then they sold him to Potiphar, who was an official of the Pharaoh.
Egypt
The Lord protected Joesph while he was in Egypt. Joesph was successful in everything he did. Then eventually Potiphar put him in charge of all his possessions. After a while Potiphar's wife fell in love with him, she wanted Joesph, but shed didn't want to commit sin so she pretended that Joesph attacked her and got him put in prison.
A Family Reunited
The Pharaoh was having dreams about the future, and Jacob told him what they meant, and he made Joesph the governor of Egypt. Joesph's family was poor and needed food so his bothers went to him for food. He eventually forgave them, and promised he would take care of their family.
