Hazel Grace

  • Main character
  • The narrator
  • 16 year old, living with cancer
  • Taken out of high school prior to the novel

Augustus waters (Gus')

  • Used to be a great ball player
  • Leg amputee
  • Still in high school
  • A dreamer

Isacc

  • Cancer took his eye sight
  • The reason Hazel & Augusts met
  • Augustus' best friend
  • Plays a big role in the ending

Peter Van Houten

  • The author of An imperial affliction
  • The reason Hazel & Augustus go to Amsterdam
  • A drunken pitiful man, mourning over the loss of a loved one
  • Plays a big role in the end, as well.

Lidewij Viginheart

  • Van Houten's personal assistant
  • The person the invited Hazel and Gus to Amsterdam
  • Plays a big role in the ending.

A setting in the novel would be the church during support group, where Hazel first met Augustus.

The most important setting in my opinion would be Amsterdam, because it's where Hazel and Augustus really connected and you actually see that for the first time in a way.

And last but not least, both Hazel and Augusts spent a significant amount of time in the hospital throughout the novel.

My personal rating of this book is a 10- because of the depth and thought put into it, not to mention the thought I myself went into while reading it.

Readers that enjoy deeper thoughts than the average everyday life, or normal dramas would like this book; in my opinion.
