WHEN WAS IT?

  • The first feast was held in the fall of 1621

WHERE WAS IT?

  • Southeastern Massachusetts and eastern Rhode Island
  • Home of the Wanpanoag people

WHO CAME?

  • The Puritans, a group of Protestants who wanted to break away from the church. (English)
  • Men, woman, and children of the Wanpanoag tribe.

PURPOSE?

  • They had the feast to celebrate the first successful harvest the colony had

CELEBRATING

  • All of them got together and had a big feast.😋

FACTS VS. MYTHS

  • The first Thanksgiving wasn't celebrated in November, but in mid-September to late October
  • They didn't eat turkey at the first Thanksgiving, they ate deer
  • The pilgrims didn't invite the Indians to the first Thanksgiving. They stumbled across them celebrating and then the pilgrims said they could join if they desired.
