The first thanksgiving was in November 1621
It lasted about 3 days.

WHERE WAS IT HELD?
It was celebrated in Plymouth or present-day Massachusetts.

WHO ATTENDED THE FIRST THANKSGIVING?
There were approximately 50 Pilgrims, and 90 Wampanoag Indians.
That makes about 140 people celebrating giving thanks.

PURPOSE OF THANKSGIVING
The purpose of thanksgiving is to give thanks for blessings of all the harvest.
Thanksgiving is a time to spend time with your family and friends.

HOW DID THEY CELEBRATE?
Of the 3 days the pilgrims and the Wampanoags spent during thanksgiving, some days were days of prayer.
But other days they spent feasting and celebrating their harvest.

FACTS VS. MYTHS
Myth- They ate turkey at the first thanksgiving. There was no proof of them eating turkey. They did eat things like pumpkins and Indian corn.
Fact- they didn't use forks at the first thanksgiving.
