SHAHADA

  • Shahada means faith
  • Declaration that there is only one god
  • States that Muhammad is Gods messenger

SALAT (PRAYER)

  • Fajr prayer performed before sunrise
  • Dhuhr prayer is performed at noon
  • Asr prayer is the afternoon prayer
  • Maghrib prayer is the evening prayer
  • Ishā is the night prayer

ZAKĀT (CHARITY)

  • Charitable giving based on accumulated wealth
  • Used to help get rid of inequality
  • Payments must be kind.

SAWM (FASTING)

  • Occurs during the holy month of Rmadan
  • Excludes children, people with medical issues, the elderly, and pregnant women.
  • Meant for Muslims to seek closeness and forgiveness from God.

HAJJ (PILGRIMAGE TO MECCA)

  • Every able bodied Muslim is obliged to take a trip to Mecca at least once in their life.
  • If pilgrimage takes place within 10 km, person must wear two white sheets
  • Person must walk around the stone seven times.
