ROMULUS AND REMUS
According to legend, when Romulus and Remus were put into a basket when they were born.
The basket was sent to float down the Tiber River but eventually got caught on the branches of a fig tree
When Romulus and Remus grew older they decided to build a city where there baskets got caught as children.
Romulus and Remus fought over the land but Romulus won and him and his followers began to build.
The city was eventually named Rome after Romulus.

THE FOUNDING OF ROME
According to legend, Rome was founded on April 21, 753 BC
It wasn't until the 8th Century BC that Rome grew into such a large empire.
The Roman Empire grew to encompass many countries.
These Countries included Britain, most of Europe, most of Asia, and Northern Africa.

ALBA LONGA
Legend says that Alba Longa is the oldest Latin City.
It was located in the Alban Hills about 12 miles southeast of Rome
Tradition accredits Ascanius, son of Aeneas, with its founding in about 1152 BC
Alba Longa had a Latin League of uncertain extent.
Rome eventually overthrew and destroyed Alba Longa in about 600 BC

AENEAS
Aeneas is also accredited with the founding of Rome.
His Mother was the Goddess Aphrodite
His Father was a mortal named Anchises
His Son was Ascanius, founder of Alba Longa

Silvius was King of Alba Longa
Son of Ascanius
Grandson of the Great Aeneas
His Father Ascanius, married the King of Lavinias Daughter
