What is the Four Treasures of China?
The Four Treasures of China is some tools used for calligraphy which are usually use to write poems.
WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE TO WRITE CALLIGRAPHY?
The Four Treasures of China include Paper, Ink, Calligraphy Brush and a Ink Stone.
IS THE PAPER ANY DIFFERENT TO NORMAL PAPER
The paper is not a normal sheet of paper but it is called a Rice Paper. The Rice Paper is a special type of paper which is used for calligraphy. It is also thinner than normal paper.
WHERE DO YOU GET THE INK?
The ink is basically burned wood in a earthenware mixed with dense ash and a special glue which makes the ink.
WHAT IS THE BRUSH MADE OUT OF?
The brush is made out of animal hair which is then attached to a bamboo stink which makes the traditional brush.
HOW DO YOU MAKE A TRADITIONAL INKSTONE?
A traditional inkstone is a stone mortar and is used to contain ink.
It was invented around 6000 to 7000 years ago. The earliest inkstone that was made was in the 3rd B.C.
