THE STORMING OF BASTILLE
3rd estate released prisoners from their cells.
First violent action of the French Revolution.
Happened on July 14th, 1789.
Only around 7 prisoners were inside the Prison.

THE DECLARATION OF THE RIGHTS OF MAN
Gave all equal rights to all men.
There was no longer a higher class with more power.
Happened on August 4th, 1789.
Gave less/no power to the King.
Document was influenced by Thomas Jefferson & Enlightenment philosophers.

THE WOMEN'S MARCH ON VERAILLES
Women marched from Paris to Versailles demanding bread, all the bread that the palace had hoarded.
Instead of killing the royal family, they made King Louis XVI come to Paris to see what he has done.
They took the King and Queen as Prisoners of the 3rd Estate.
5.
SEPTEMBER MASSACRES
The September massacres was a wave of killings in Paris in the year of 1792.
The killings lasted 5 days (September 2nd to September 7th).
Reason it happened: People believed royalist armies would attack Paris and release the Prisoners so they could join them.
By September 6th, 1200-1400 Prisoners were executed.

REIGN OF TERROR
Most brutal/violent event during the French Revolution.
Killed more than 10,000 people.
Over 300,000 people were arrested.
Many prisoners died in Prison.
Happened in 1794.
