WHO WERE THE FUALNI?
The Fulani were an ethnic group located in sub- Saharan Africa
Mainly consisted of people who kept herds for cattle in West Africa
They are the largest migratory ethnic group in the world

WHY WERE THEY SIGNIFICANT?
Originally, the Fulani were peoples who held occupations as cattle herders
In the 17 century, the Fulani moved into settled cities, they observed a strict form of Islam
led a series of military campaigns to establish Islamic states and spread Islam
Their intent was not to stamp out African Religion, nor eliminate indigenous elements
Established powerful states such as Guinea, Senegal, Mali, and northern Nigeria today

FULANI TODAY
Fulani numbers stand at around 30 million all across Africa
They continue to be extremely nomadic and practice their own form of Islam
Continue to be very courageous, brave, and hardworking people
