WHO

  • Jiang Qing - leader

  • Zhang chunqiao- secretary of shanghai municipal committee

WHAT

  • The gang four controlled the power organs of the communist party of china
  • The gang four together with disgraced general Lin bias.
  • The culture revolution and officially blamed by the Chinese gov. For the worst excesses of the social chaos.
  • Their down fall on October 6,1976, a mere month after moas death,
  • The removal of this group from power is sometimes considered to have marked the end of the culture revolution.

  • After Maos death, the Gang of Four wanted to gain bid for power
  • They wanted and needed more support so they used their influenced on the media
  • Jiang wanted to take control instead of having hua as the leader

WHEN

  • Between 1974 and 1976 this political and ideological split was particularly focused on a plan known as the four modernist action
  • Deng fell from favor again in 1975 but Zhou continued
  • On October 5 hua called an emergency meeting of politburo for midnight
  • The gang has been arrested in October 1976 there trials were delayed until November 1980'and did not finish until 1981
